Eating Contest Is Appetizer To Big Ten Game

Eating Contest Is Appetizer To Big Ten Game

Things could get heated during a spicy competition leading up to this weekend’s Big Ten Championship Game.

A first of its kind contest will be held Saturday afternoon during the Meijer Tail Greater Party in downtown Indianapolis.  World Champion Major League Eater Joey Chestnut will take on other competitors for the title of Shrimp Cocktail Eating Champion.

Eaters will be challenged to consume as much of St. Elmo’s Steak House’s famously spicy appetizer as they can in eight minutes.

Chestnut is considered a favorite in the race, having recently set world records in Twinkies, hard-boiled eggs and ice cream categories.

The competition is planned for Saturday at 3 p.m. on Georgia Street ahead of the championship football game between the Michigan State Spartans and the Ohio State Buckeyes at Lucas Oil Stadium.
