IndyGo will host a drive-thru, pop-up event Thursday at the Indiana State Fairgrounds to prepare drivers for its newest bus route.

Spokesperson Carrie Black said the event is to give drivers an understanding of what’s going to happen with closures and detours on 38th Street with the Purple Line construction.

“It will be super simple. They can grab their free coffee, free items, a free postcard with all of the information and drive right back out and continue on to their destination,” Black said.

The popup event will take place 7 to 9 a.m. in the South Lot.

The first major road closure of the two-year project is planned to begin March 7.

Once completed, the Purple Line will extend 15.2 miles between Indianapolis and Lawrence.

Residents can sign up online for a weekly newsletter to receive updates on the project.
