The Indianapolis Department of Public Works announced the start of open application period for the 2020 Indy Neighborhood Infrastructure Partnership.

The partnership is a matching funds program that awards community based nonprofits funds for projects like sidewalks, bridges and trails.

DPW Director Dan Parker says the program gives neighborhoods an extra boost for projects DPW might not have time to complete.

“The 50-50 is really because we have so many infrastructure needs in terms of rebuilding bridges, rebuilding roads, and our drainage and all that. We wanted to put dollars available to try to get projects done that neighborhoods come up with the idea.”

2020 will be the third year for the  Indy Neighborhood Infrastructure Partnership.

DPW will accept project applications for 2020 between Nov. 1 and Jan. 10, 2020. The projects must be for the construction or improvement of public infrastructure.
