Deadly morning on the streets of Indianapolis

A child was struck by a car and killed Friday morning. The accident happened on the city’s east side near the intersection of 21st and Post Rd. The 7-year-old was at a bus stop outside of an apartment complex when he was hit in a roadway. Other students witnessed the incident. Two vehicles were involved, but one left the scene. Police are investigating the incident as a fatal crash and as a hit and run.

A teenager was also killed in a separate vehicle accident on the city’s west side shortly after. Police are also investigating two hit and runs involving pedestrians on the southeast side, one fatal. The incidents occurred in the span of seven hours within a mile of each other.

‘It takes a village’: Job fair helps formerly incarcerated people find work

Martin University hosted a job fair Thursday to help formerly incarcerated people find employment. The university partnered with the Indiana Department of Corrections to provide more than 45 resource vendors to people reentering the workforce after incarceration.
