The Indianapolis Cultural Trail is set to expand. This will be the first major addition since the trail opened in 2013.

The current trail connects six different cultural districts.  The nonprofit Indianapolis Cultural Trail says new pathways will extend to two more areas, down South Street and up Indiana Ave.

The expansion is expected to cost about $30 million.  It’s funded by a new $20 million grant from the Lilly Endowment and other private and public investments, including $5 million from the city.

The Cultural Trail is nationally recognized. It blends art, history, environment and entertainment along miles of pedestrian and bike pathways in downtown Indianapolis.
