The Indianapolis Zoo is focusing on Antarctica conservation with an Indianapolis photographer and a local business that makes ice cream.

Indianapolis photographer and videographer Michael Durr returned from the Antarctica last year and teamed up with Circles Ice Cream to create Antarctica themed ice cream to raise awareness about the value of that wilderness. They have now teamed up with the zoo.

“We ended up talking about ways to integrate something that we can donate money to and make awareness to and we thought of the Zoo as a great option because they have the penguin exhibit there,"  Durr said.

Indianapolis Zoo Conservation Public Relations Specialist Melanie Laurendine said the photography puts special attention on conservation efforts.

“While we know most people won’t necessarily be able to go to Antarctica in their lifetime, we are really glad to see a project raising awareness for penguins and their habitats and encouraging people to come and learn about them at the zoo,” Laurendine said.

A portion of proceeds will be donated to the Indianapolis Zoo.
