Coats Critical Of Deal With Iran, But Doesn't Sign Letter

Indiana U.S. Sen. Dan Coats says he and the rest of the Senate Republicans might disagree on tactics, but they all want Congress to have a say on nuclear negotiations with Iran.

Coats issued the statement after being one of only seven Republican Senators who did not sign the open letter to Iranian officials yesterday regarding the negotiations.

The letter warned that any deal Iran might make with the Obama administration would not be fully valid unless Congress approves it.

But Coats is still critical of making a deal with Iran. He’s said the president is ignoring the danger Iran poses to U.S. security.

President Obama has threatened to veto any bill that would give Congress more authority over a nuclear agreement.
