Those wishing to submit a claim against USA Gymnastics have until April 26 to come forward.
The claims bar date creates a deadline for anyone wanting to file a claim against USAG and fill out a form to make a financial claim.
The date and notifications drew little concern, but the form stirred up some lively discussion between lawyers representing sexual abuse survivors, insurance companies and USAG.
Legal counsel for the Survivors Committee, Ilan Scharf argued that the form presented focus on Larry Nassar when others have come forward claiming to have been sexually abused by others in the sport.
Sharf also asked the form be simplified saying, “...you have to write to your audience.”
Insurance company lawyers argued against any changes saying keeping consistency with the form that has been used to handle claims with Michigan State University will help streamline the process. They argued changing the form would slow things down.
The judge approved USAG proposed form, but asked them to look into some of the wording used on the form that had been brought into question.
In a statement, USAG said they will post information about the claims bar date and required forms on the organization's website and social media outlets.
