Even the buses are not in operation as Indianapolis continues to deal with extreme temperatures. The city is requesting closures through Tuesday, and as a result normal IndyGo bus operations will be suspended for another day.
"While road conditions are beginning to improve, IndyGo will suspend service on Tuesday in order to help keep our customers and professional operators safe," said Mike Terry, IndyGo president and CEO.
A wind chill warning runs through 7 p.m. Tuesday.
IndyGo will continue to honor reservations made for transportation to vital medical appointments on its Open Door paratransit service. Only standing reservations for certified Open Door riders needing to travel to dialysis appointments are being honored. No new reservations or Open Door certifications are being issued during the winter weather emergency.
Emergency transportation to shelter and dialysis is being coordinated by the Indianapolis Department of Homeland Security.
Indianapolis residents should contact Indianapolis DHS directly at (317) 487-6329 for emergency transportation.
