INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A bridge repair project will soon shut down a ramp linking Interstates 65 and 70 near downtown Indianapolis for two months.
State highway officials say the two-lane ramp for traffic going from northbound I-65 to westbound I-70 is scheduled to close starting May 27.
The project will involve repairs on two 40-year-old bridges, including redoing their concrete decks, replacing bridge joints and rebuilding bridge supports. Contractors are scheduled to have the ramp reopened by the end of July.
Traffic for northbound I-65 to westbound I-70 will be redirected west on I-465 during the project.
Highway officials say closing the ramp will allow the work to be completed much faster than if traffic was maintained during construction.
