Boycott Poster Exhibit At Butler

Boycott Poster Exhibit At Butler

A new exhibit brings a collection of historical posters to Butler University this week.  "Boycott! The Art of Economic Activism" features more than 60 posters, spanning the past 60 years, that tell stories of grassroots campaigns aiming to fight injustice.

The traveling exhibit which is free and open to the public, displays posters from more than 20 boycotts including the famous Montgomery Bus Boycott.

Erin Polley, local program coordinator with the American Friends Service Committe (AFSC), says the pieces are also works of art.

"There are a lot of really beautiful hand drawn posters," says Polley. "Some of them are really simple and some more complex."

The AFSC is bringing the exhibit to Butler University.  The two have worked together in the past, showing projects that promote peace building.

The exhibit opens Monday and ends Friday.  The posters will be shown on the third floor of Butler's Jordan Hall.  The next stop on a national tour is Earlham College in Richmond.
