Blue II Is Children's Book Star

Blue II Is Children's Book Star

Butler Blue II lived an extraordinary life.  As the mascot for Butler men’s basketball team, he got to meet national leaders, celebrities and accompany his team to back-to-back Final Four appearances.

Now the beloved bulldog, who died last year, has his very own book.  “Good Boy, Blue” tells the story of Blue II as a pup, trying to find his way.   The children’s tale aims to teach kids positive life lessons with “The Butler Way” in mind.

Michael Kaltenmark, Blue’s handler, wrote the book and says it sprouted from a desire to create a larger literacy program.

"Blue II and I would go to a lot of schools and we would bring books to read and the kids loved it, but I thought in the back of my mind, how cool would it be if we had our own book to read and then leave behind," recalls Kaltenmark.

Proceeds will support the school’s live mascot program.

Kaltenmark has a number of upcoming signings for the book which can be purchased online or at Butler’s bookstore.
