EAST UNION, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a worker has died after a semi-truck failed to merge in a construction zone in central Indiana and struck a construction vehicle.

The crash happened Wednesday along U.S. highway 31 in Hamilton County, about 30 miles north of Indianapolis.

The sheriff's office says the 43-year-old truck driver from Decatur apparently didn't see construction vehicles with arrow boards that were merging traffic. The truck either was unable to merge or stop in time before hitting one of the construction vehicles, which was pushed into the worker.

The construction worker identified as 32-year-old Justin Nance of Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash is under investigation.
