Fitness facilities have adjusted to new safety measures, including social distancing, and are gearing up for a popular festival this year amid a pandemic.
Indy Fitness Festival founder Angi Grant said the pandemic makes it challenging, but it is also a big reason to make sure it takes place.
"Putting your mental and physical health at the forefront especially during this day and age is super important and that’s why we felt super strongly to press on," Grant said.
The 3rd annual fitness festival is a 4-day studio crawl event that includes more than 95 full length workout classes at more than 40 gyms and fitness facilities in downtown Indianapolis, Carmel, Fishers and Broad Ripple. Participants can purchase a 1-day, 2-day or weekend pass to attend various classes.
All of the locations are abiding by the CDC guidelines for their respective line of business. Each class description has a "safety guidelines" section where participants can learn more about how the classes are addressing COVID-19 precautions.
The event takes place Sept. 17-20. A kick-off workout is planned Thursday, Sept. 17 on the White River Canal.
