A Runner's Runner: Frank Shorter Sets the Pace for Indy's Mini-Marathon

Olympic running great Frank Shorter was in Indianapolis to run the 13.1 mile course of the One America Mini Marathon, as part of a campaign to raise money for charity.

Shorter won the inaugural Mini Marathon in 1977 with a time of just under an hour and four minutes. He’ll take it slower today, planning to finish the course in about two hours and 10 minutes. For every runner who beats his time during the race in May, the festival will donate a dollar to charity.

Shorter, who is now 66, has long been a regular presence at the race, and though he’s still an avid runner, he says he had to prepare for Tuesday's run.
