Indiana State Fair goers this year will be asked to "Step Right Up! To the Greatest 17 Days of Summer." Fair organizers revealed the theme for this year’s event Wednesday.
State Fair spokeswoman Sharon Smith says Indiana has a rich Circus heritage.
“The Circus Hall of Fame is located in Peru, Indiana. And that heritage goes back to the 1800’s," Smith says. "It’s really a great opportunity for us to celebrate that.”
The fair will showcase a world-class circus complete with acrobats, clowns and trapeze artists.
The Big Top Circus has been programmed specifically for the Indiana State Fair and features world-class performers such as Bello Nock. Often known simply as “Bello,” he is referred to as the “World’s Greatest Comic Daredevil” and has been featured in the Guinness Book of World Records for a high wire walk over a cruise ship.
The Indiana State Fair opens Aug. 3 and runs until Aug 19.
