About Kai Ryssdal
Before becoming the host of Marketplace
Morning Report, Kai Ryssdal was
a reporter and substitute host
for The California Report,a news
and information program distributed
to public radio stations in California
by KQED-FM in San Francisco.
During his tenure at KQED, he covered
everything from business and the
economy to capital punishment and
agriculture. His work there won first
place awards from the Radio and Television
News Directors Association and the
national Public Radio News Directors
Association. After graduating from
Emory University in Atlanta, Ryssdal
spent eight years in the United States
Navy, first flying from the aircraft
carrier U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt,
and then as a Pentagon staff officer.
He also was a member of the United
States Foreign Service and served
in Ottawa and Beijing.
Ryssdal is joined on the Marketplace
Money team by Wendy Sykes and Chris
Farrell. Wendy is the former producer
of the public radio show Rewind
and J.J. Yore, and is now the senior
producer of
public radio's top-rated Marketplace
Money. Chris brings more than 25
years of experience in economics
and
personal
finance
journalism to Marketplace Money.
