A new tactical urbanism project aims to slow traffic at a busy and dangerous intersection on the north side.

A Marion County team will take a close look at dangerous intersections as part of a new fatal crash study.

Workers with the Indiana Department of Transportation started work Monday on the project that will essentially eliminate movement across all four lanes of U.S. 41 in Knox County near Oaktown.

The first closure will be of I-65 northbound between its interchanges with Interstate 465 and Interstate 865 starting 9 p.m. June 14 until July 1. Closure of the southbound lanes is scheduled from July 12 until July 29.
