PLAINFIELD, Ind. (AP) — Authorities are investigating vandalism at the Islamic Society of North America's headquarters in Plainfield after vulgar anti-Muslim phrases were spray painted on a wall.
Plainfield Police Capt. Jill Lees says the Islamic Society notified the department Sunday morning about what it characterized as a hate crime. She says nobody was injured and the vandals did not attempt to enter the building. She says there were four anti-Muslim phrases spray painted on a wall.
In a news release, the society says that security cameras show three people were responsible for the vandalism. However Lees says the footage was not clear enough to identify the suspects.
The society says that the FBI was notified about the incident. The FBI did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
