Jill Sheridan/IPB NewsA new $75 million health center for veterans in Indiana was announced Wednesday. Veteran Health Indiana will open the clinic in Brownsburg, a western Indianapolis suburb.
Veteran Health Indiana's Chief Strategy Officer Richard Griffith says Hoosier veterans deserve to have good access to health care.
"We need to really provide basic veterans services where veterans live, so if you can get a service in the community then the veteran should be able to get that service in the community," says Griffith.
The new center will be able to serve 20,000 veterans.
This is the largest investment in a veteran's health center in Indiana in over two decades
Griffith says the VA is very deliberate about where they put new clinics.
"We spend a lot of time looking at where our veterans live and try and make sure that the majority of veterans can drive less than 30 minutes to get primary care," says Griffith.
The center will offer primary care, behavioral health and physical therapy. It's slated to open in 2021.
