Our March Small Studio Sessions performer is Meghan Cristeen Martin. She just released her second album, an EP called "Breaking Points". She performed several of the songs in our Small Studio along with her dad, well known Indianapolis musician Jon Martin. After the session, they sat down to talk with WFYI’s Jill Ditmire.

Meghan says that she didn’t plan on making music a career. But a gift from her dad changed all of that. "When I was 18 or 19, Dad gave me a ukulele and I was kind of messing around with that. It was right after I graduated high school and I was like, well now what? I was in marching band in high school, but I wanted to do something different. I didn't just want to be done because you get that sense of community. I need that again, I need the music."

See Meghan Cristeen Martin’s Small Studio Session and hear more of Jill’s conversation with Meghan and her dad at wfyi.org/smallstudio. On April 5th, Meghan will play at a Patsy Cline Tribute show at Dukes Indy on the city’s south side.
