INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Bureau of Motor Vehicles says license branches will be open Monday and for longer hours on Tuesday to give voters more time to get official identification they'll need at the polls.
Branches in counties where municipal elections will be held Tuesday will be open Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The longer hours will allow license branches to issue ID cards and driver's licenses that can be used for identification at polling places. They'll process only new, amended or replacement ID cards, driver's licenses and learner permits.
The BMV says Benton, Brown, Newton and Warren counties don't have elections and license branches in those counties will be closed Tuesday in observance of the Election Day holiday.
