170 Million Americans
Last year, you successfully defended funding for public broadcasting!
Congress is making plans for the upcoming fiscal year, and last week the House Budget Committee released a budget resolution that recommends eliminating all federal funding for public broadcasting. This is just the beginning of Congress' work to determine public broadcasting funding for the coming year, but we must prepare now to defend public broadcasting funding at every step of this yearlong process.
Sign up to be part of 170 Million Americans for Public Broadcasting via the website (170millionamericans.org/) or on Facebook (www.facebook.com/170Million) to demonstrate that you value the important contributions public broadcasting makes in your community, and tell Congress that it is too important to cut.
More than half of all Americans use public media each month. One hundred seventy million Americans connect through 368 public television stations, 934 public radio stations, hundreds of online services and in-person events and activities.
Now, more than ever, our country needs a strong public media as a source of non-partisan news, local cultural programming and non-commercial educational programs. Public broadcasting enhances the quality of life of our local communities through its offerings of children's programming, public affairs, music and culture that is often not provided by other sources.
