Reviving the
Spirit
The Story of Martindale-Brightwood
Reviving
the Spirit is a story of
one of Indianapolis’ oldest
neighborhoods. This historically
African-American community
emerged in the northeast
side of Indianapolis as a
result of forced segregation
in the 1800s, and grew into
a thriving and stable environment.
The area has experienced
economic decline and increased
crime, but this locally-produced
documentary also focuses
on the determination of residents
to maintain the pride and
stability that are hallmarks
of the Martindale-Brightwood
neighborhood, and to tackle
such daunting issues as environmental
contamination. More...
Reviving the Spirit: The
Story of Martindale-Brightwood was
made possible through a grant
from the Annie E. Casey Foundation. |
