Meet Your Hosts
Sharon Gamble Sharon Gamble
Sharon Gamble has enjoyed careers as an English teacher, writer and editor, arts administrator and classical radio host (on WSYW-FM and WFYI Radio FM 90.1). She currently serves as the executive director of the Phoenix Theatre. When she is not interviewing some of the most fascinating people in Indianapolis, she collects McCoy pottery and vintage linens, gardens, reads, studies cello and works on restoring a classic pre-World-War-I Craftsman Bungalow in Old Meridian Park. She also contributes pieces to Across Indiana on WFYI Radio's sister station TV 20.
Travis DiNicola Travis DiNicola
Art of the Matter co-host M. Travis DiNicola is also the Executive Director of Indy Reads, a non-profit which provides free tutoring programs for functionally illiterate adults in Indianapolis who want to learn to read. Prior to joining Indy Reads, DiNicola was the Director of Public Relations for Young Audiences of Indiana for ten years. Originally from Pennsylvania, DiNicola received a B.A. in Theatre & Dance and a M.S. in Art Education from Penn State University. Before moving to Indiana, he worked as an actor and a performance artist, presenting his work at venues in New York, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and other locations on the East Coast. Indianapolis audiences saw him perform occasionally for five seasons (1999-2003) as Rowdie, the mascot of the Indianapolis Indians. He is also a writer, and has taught at IUPUI, Butler University, and Seoul National University. Awards he has received include Best Graduate Research at Penn State, a Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship, an Indiana Individual Artist Award, WFYI’s Community Volunteer Award, Broad Ripple Art Fair Volunteer of the Year, and most recently was picked as an IBJ Forty Under 40 recipient. He is married to Elizabeth Garber, owner of The Best Chocolate in Town.
Matt Socey Matthew Socey
January 29, 2005, marked the last regular appearance for Matthew Socey as host of The Art of the Matter. Matthew has had triple duties at WFYI. Besides co-hosting TAOTM, he's host of The Blues House Party and is the voice of WFYI Sundays from 3-8 p.m. Leaving The Art of the Matter will allow Matthew to devote more time to The Blues House Party, including a series of live appearances at The Slippery Noodle. Not to worry, Soceyphiles - He'll stop in from time to time as a special correspondent. Matthew is also a contributing writer for NUVO Newsweekly, Downbeat and Big City Blues magazine.
