Pumpkin Pie Alternatives?

Watch This Segment Online.
Description:Those of you who push yourselves away from the Thanksgiving table, stuffed to the gills with dressing, yams and dessert . . . this segment is definitely not for you. Executive Chef Jim Roberts of Carmel's Crooked Stick Golf Club will show you how to make alternative desserts to the traditional pumpkin pie: a "Salami Dolce" ("Chocolate Salami"), so simple a child could make it – which is a good idea, since it’s a kid’s dessert – and a Bread Pudding Souffle with Grand Marnier sauce. May all your desserts be as rich.

Rick Walks America

Watch This Segment Online.
Description:Just outside Centerville, we meet former Indianapolis resident Rick Hammersley, a cancer survivor who once dreamed of walking the Appalachian trail before he was 50. He never did. He’s 60 now, but the “put-one-foot-in-front-of-the-other” dream is still alive as Rick makes up for it in a big way. He’s walking from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic to raise money to fight cancer . . . and a mere 800 miles from Coney Island, he tells us that “he can smell the ocean.”

The Bray Way

Watch This Segment Online.
Description:Westfield's Helen Bray is retiring after 50 years of being a teacher. Not a big deal, you say? But then, you don’t know the hundreds of students who have gone on to big corporate jobs, entered politics or become teachers themselves. How much do they admire Helen? Well, according to one: “If there is reincarnation, I want to come back as Helen Bray."

A Home for the Holidays

Watch This Segment Online.
Description: Meet Plainfield's “Piggy,” a two year-old dog that’s just gotten a forever home. And meet “Friday” . . . ditto. Except that “Piggy” was born blind and “Friday” was dumped at the age of 15 by owners who didn’t want him anymore. He’s a ripe-old 17 now. We’re talking about pets with special needs, some so severe that it seems they have no a chance of ever finding homes. But then, never underestimate the bond between man and man’s best friends . . .

A Welcome Homecoming

Watch This Segment Online.
Description:We leave you this trip with the best Thanksgiving scene of all. The first arrivals at the new Indianapolis Airport were soldiers returning from service in Iraq, and at this special time of year, that’s a homecoming for families, friends, spouses and kids to be mighty thankful for. Welcome home.
