Its some 100 days and counting until one of the planet's grandest sporting events comes to Indianapolis for the first time—and host Derwin Smiley will take you where the action is happening.
Around 10th Street, the Super Bowl Legacy Project is in full swing as the Chase Near Eastside Legacy Center is taking shape—and 32 MIBOR Centennial Homes for at-risk families are added to a neighborhood revitalization that has pleased new residents and long-term inhabitants alike.
Downtown, urban facades are adorned with huge murals painted by artists from throughout the region and the Georgia Street pedestrian plaza is nearing completion.
As you'll see, Hoosiers have been characteristically generous and the partnerships making it all possible are many.
But perhaps none is as daring as the "Super Cure," a Super Bowl initiative using hundreds of volunteers to help provide the Susan G. Komen for the cure Tissue Bank at IU Simon Cancer Center with the research tools needed to find a cure for breast cancer.
"Since the beginning, we've really looked at the Super Bowl as being a state of Indiana Super Bowl," says Allison Melangton, CEO of the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee. And perhaps, a Super Bowl that belongs to the world.
