SuperWhy2009 Highlights
  • For the 16th year, WFYI hosted its one-of-a-kind family festival in Indianapolis. This year's theme for the largest PBS KIDS event of its kind in the nation was Eco Adventure.
  • The day included appearances by PBS KIDS characters: Arthur, Calliou, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Cookie Monster, Curious George, Duck from WordWorld, Martha from Martha Speaks, Maya & Miguel, Miss Rosa, Rosita from Sesame Street, Sid the Science Kid, Snook from It's a Big Big World, SuperWhy and Word Girl.
  • Nonstop entertainment on three distinct stages included national acts Miss Rosa, host of the PBS KIDS pre-school programming block, and Snook from It's a Big Big World. Performances by local artists included Thaddeus Rex, Ruditoonz and the Children's Theatre Institute, The Russian Ballet Academy of Indiana and The Villages Child Performing Arts.
  • Bounce Houses
  • The PB&J Café stage featured music and theater performances, story time, interactive shows and hands-on activities.
  • Guests participated in activities with themes including: Exercise, Reading, Math + Science, The Environment and The Arts.
  • Activities hosted by some of Central Indiana's leading arts and service organizations included: crafts, games, exhibits, train rides, face painting, balloon artists, children's book giveaways, craft dough, bubble making stations and much more!
